INDEPENDENT DESIGN PROJECT Technological Design
Design Brief:
Individually design a project of your choice to occupy 3 weeks of class time.
Criteria:
§ Projects can involve any aspect(s) of our tech design course
§ Must be preceded by a 2 page Proposal detailing:
§ Situation & Design Brief: What are you doing, and for what reason?
§ Criteria: What features must your project have when completed?
§ Timeline: How will you be spending each day for two weeks? (detail each and every day)
§ Marking Scheme: Fill in the supplied rubric with at least 5 marking criteria.
§ Project proposal is subject to approval, and must be handed in and approved before work can begin.
Evaluation:
Teams will be evaluated in three ways:
1. Project Proposal 20%
2. Teacher-assessed demonstrations of work habits during the course of the project: 40%
3. Teacher will supply RUBRICS FOR MARKING SCHEME (marked by teacher) 40%
Due date:
The Project will be due, in its entirety, on Friday, June 10, 2006

Recommendation:
Please choose something that you can reasonably accomplish in the class time available. You will be evaluated against your original goals laid out in your proposal, so be sure you can accomplish them. At the same time, you will be evaluated on your work habits – so it is a careful balance between having enough to do to fill the time, but not having too much.
Please consider your project proposal and timeline very carefully!

So basicly, I have to design and produce a project using basic knowledge of shop tools and computer design software. Any ideas?!

Yeah I posted it here and got some error, so I assumed it didn't work. I went to the off-topic realising it would be better suited for a thread like this and then I noticed it was already here.

I've already thought of a trebuchet and it's still in my mind as a potential, but some faggot took my idea and has already started it.. Don't want to look like I can't come up with my own ideas. >.<

Look under B.E.A.M. or BEAM robotics and the name Mark Tilden...You can build a small, phtovoltaic powered robot out of less than 20 componnents, costing under 30 bucks (less if you salvage from old tech junk). They exhibit basic insect behavior and follow light/avoid shadows...takes about 2 hrs. to build one...Look under "Fang's Photovore Page" for a great tutorial. Lots of background info and related studies, including nano-robot theory and colony bot behavior applications for use in NASA programs...Sounds all very technical? Well, even if you know virtually nothing about electronics, you can solder one together using the tutorial and some patience (and Bactine for the soldering iron burns you are sure to get)...have fun with whatever you chose to do...if it ain't fun, it ain't worth doing...

LOL design a *hardware* GW faction farming bot. You can use rubber bands, sticks, your computer and any other household stuff. You can design it on computer and refine your prototype my making some parts using shop tools.
